October was Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the healthcare team at HMP Low Newton held a fundraising day for Breast Cancer Now, the charity behind ‘Wear It Pink’.
Staff donned pink clothing on Friday 21st October in support of the cause, with the event featuring a delicious cake sale and raffle. The latter included some fantastic, donated prizes – including perfumes, a gym membership, complimentary meals and a B&B stay for two.
The cakes proved extremely popular, especially with the patients; Andrea and her team ran out on the day, so they bought and baked more for the following Monday so that the last two wings did not miss out.
The event was a huge success, with £730 raised by Low Newton for breast cancer research and support – £500 from patients and £230 from the staff. Well done to everyone involved!
