Spectrum has been awarded a contract by NHS England to provide primary care services at HMP Forest Bank – a men’s prison near Salford.

The category B secure estate in the town of Pendlebury, Greater Manchester, became the 19th prison in England to join Spectrum’s portfolio, on April 1, 2023.

The new six-year contract will see over 60 employees added to Spectrum’s ever-growing healthcare workforce that spans from Lancashire and Cumbria, across to Yorkshire, the Tyne-Tees region and the county of Northumberland.

The addition of HMP Forest Bank to the Spectrum family showcases an ambition to become the employer of choice in health and justice care, and in generating social value and tackling health inequalities in the communities served.

Spectrum’s CEO, Dr Linda Harris OBE, said, “This contract represents another key milestone for Spectrum as a holistic healthcare provider which aims to maximise social impact for our beneficiaries. We are excited by this opportunity, working with an excellent and committed team and extending our vision for health and justice, which is built around a steadfast commitment to high quality and continuous improvement. We will be working closely with our commissioners, security and clinical partners and on-site teams, to ensure the transfer is as smooth as possible for the men in our care.”

Sandra Hands, North West Cluster Manager for Spectrum, also commented, “We are delighted to have been awarded this new contract and welcome HMP Forest Bank to Spectrum. We look forward to working with our partners in Sodexo, building on their strong foundations and working in partnership developing existing services and taking them forward.”
